Mission
Monroe County Meals on Wheels
plans, supplies, and delivers nutritious and appealing meals, with the
help of volunteers, to the homebound who are physically or mentally unable to shop for and/or
prepare meals for themselves.
History
On October 16, 1972 the first
meals in Monroe County were delivered to 11 clients in the Stroudsburg
area. In the intervening years, our organization has grown so that today
volunteers deliver meals to approximately 160 clients throughout the entire
area of Monroe County.
Services
- DELIVERY of nutritious
meals to homebound persons enabling them to maintain their
independence and continue to live in their own homes.
- DAILY CONTACT with a
volunteer.
- REFERRAL to appropriate
agencies providing additional services when requested or required.
Monroe County
Meals on Wheels, Inc. is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation
governed by a 17 member volunteer board of directors. The
board meetings, open to the public take place at St. John's Lutheran
Church, 9 North 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA on the second Wednesday
of the month at 9:30 AM
